During the 17th November anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic Uprising, Greek police ran riot in central Athens and in their wake left beaten exchange students, reporters and unknown number of ordinary citizens, A thug with a badge is still a thug no matter what their ID says.

People mark the anniversary of the 1973 student uprising against the military dictatorship that ruled Greece from 1967 till 1974.

After six years of brutal military rule in 1973 Greek university students occupied the Polytechnic campus in central Athens in order to demand a return to democracy. After an initial lull the Junta sent in tanks and police to crush the rebellion, an event that is commemorated very year on the 17th November.
