When you can't be bothered to do your job properly

"Tougher penalties for drivers caught breaching traffic regulations will come into effect tomorrow with fines increasing by as much as 400 percent."

Click here to see the rest of the Kathimerini article on the changes in the Highway Code in Greece.

Well, it seems the traffic laws only got stricter for schmucks like you and me, and not this fine upstanding citizen who drove his motorbike across Aristotelous Square (supposedly pedestrianised) and stopped sans helmet (supposedly punishable by a 350 euro fine) to chat with the traffic cops outside the the police station.

“We must secure systematic policing and monitoring of those who violate rules in relation to speed, alcohol, seat belts and helmets"

Yea, I know - there is ALWAYS someone like this at that police station. I guess they are either off-duty cops or buddies, but honestly...

People who ride their motorcycles on pedestrian areas are so on my list these days. I know it sucks to wait in traffic, but come on, people!

The very next day they were hauling in people for not wearing helmets. This sends the message that the law is simply a matter of whim.Today I book you for this, tomorrow, who knows?
